They are able to offer free information and resources to others and at the same time make money from other web masters and/or companies interested in advertising to their active community. You will probably be on a much smaller scale, but think YouTube, because that is exactly what they have done, they have managed to make a fortune off of advertising space within their free video community.

There are millions of people interested in vintage movies, classic television shows and free images for use on the web, or where ever they like. You can capitalize on these people by offering them all of these works for free, from your website. Once you have built up an established community, which may not take as long as you think, you can then actively seek advertisers to begin making money from your business venture. Below are some tips for getting started.

First things first, you are going to need a website, and you want it to look professional. If you are not skilled in web design, for the sake of your future please consider contracting a professional web design firm to do the work for you. You may also consider using a free blogging platform such as WordPress, which allows you to use free, professional templates to change the look of your site. WordPress also has a ton of plug ins which will allow you to easily add videos and images, etc., and requires little experience to get going.
Once you have a website, domain name and of course web hosting your new website is ready for material. This is where you need to begin sourcing public domain videos and images online, to begin building up your directory. This is not a good step to get lazy on, the more content you are able to source and add to your site, the more interest you will build among your targeted community. Nobody likes to visit a site with nothing or very little available to them, so take your time and truly build a strong, bountiful directory.
Next you need to advertise your website, now this is a whole other topic, that can not attempt to fully cover here. I will tell you that you need to start by submitting your site to the search engines because you will want them on your side. Since search engines take time to add you to their index, you should look for other alternatives to help establish a user base while you are getting started. Some ideas to start would be, contact other web masters to exchange links between your sites, write an article about a classic TV show and submit it to article directories. Also look into an ebook for ecommerce advertising tactics, to pick up a few more ideas.
So now you are in the search engines, you have built an active community of people interested in classic television shows, its time to start making money for all of your hard work. Its time to begin seeking advertisers, potential advertisers in your niche may be, other video directories and communities, collectors communities etc., think of your users interests and build it up from there.
